“Inspiration” by Tabitha Welch

Tabitha Welch (age 12)

INSPIRATION

Sometimes I think
Inspiration is dead.

Other times
It jumps in my head.

It can be a friend
But also a traitor.

I suppose it’s Fate.
Her.

Always something new
No two alike.

Middle of day,
Dead of night.

Why do you like to write poetry?

Tabitha Welch: “I love to tell stories. A poem tells a story just like a short story or a novel does. Sometimes the poem can be much more artistic or dramatic. I think it is amazing that the same ideas that writers spend entire books exploring can be conveyed in a few poetic stanzas.”
